It is already 6 December – and that means we after today will have opened a quarter of the calendar doors. Yesterday we got another minifigure, Ron, so we’ll probably get something else today – but what? Read on to see what we got…
After a couple of days in the cold outside, today’s model get us into another shop in Hogsmeade. This is the infamous Zonko’s joke shop on Hogsmeade’s main street, which students like Fred and George Weasley loved to visit.
“Excellent,” said Fred, who had followed Harry through the portrait hole. “I need to visit Zonko’s, I’m nearly out of Stink Pellets.”
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban
Apart from starting furnishing a new store, today is also the day with by far the most parts to date. 28 pieces were in today’s bag, though no less than 9 were spares.

The many parts are used to construct a small stand with fireworks. While consisting of many parts, it is still a reasonable straightforward model to build, starting with the stand and then the fireworks afterwards.

I don’t believe we ever see Zonko’s in the movies, but the one at Universal Orlando Resort has a red and yellow colour scheme, which is followed by today’s model.

I like the two brick built rockets, which have the colours of the Gryffindor and Slytherin houses respectively. The many spares allow you to build another rocket, should you want one…

Summary
This has been a good day. Heaps of parts, a pretty good design, and having some of the fireworks in Hogwarts house colours is a nice touch. As result, I’ll give today’s model 4.5 out of five house points. That is the highest score so far!
I wonder what tomorrow might bring? More interior for Zonko’s is probably a good guess, but maybe there’s a surprise? Check back tomorrow to see on the 2023 Advent Calendar page to see what we got.
Till then, Build the Magic!
