REVIEW: Advent calendar 3 December 2023

Yesterday’s model took us to Honeydukes – one of the favourite places for students in Hogsmeade. Will we get another model from the shop, or start populating a different store? Read on to see what we got…

Today’s model is also from Honeydukes I quickly see from the bricks.

Being a lazy Sunday morning – I had plenty of time. And if you want an extra challenge, see if you can build the model while it remains within the sealed back. It is a bit fiddly, but can be done.

Well, challenge accepted – and done!

I then opened the back and did the usual stock-take of parts.

It is so far the largest model, with 19 parts included in the bag, though no less that 5 of them are spares. With two 2×4 plates, it got some pretty good size as well.

Building it is rather straightforward, though in the photos below I have broken it into smaller steps.

Overall, a nice little serving counter – with something that may be a scale to the right and a few goodies on top (and behind the glass wall at the counter front). I assume the black 1×2 “cheese” slope is a teller machine or something. If that is the case, it would have been nice if that had some printed buttons.

Summary

It was another decent model today. It has a good part count, and as with yesterday’s model, I do like the colour scheme they have selected for Honeydukes interior. But somehow, I don’t quite appreciate it as much as yesterday’s model. Maybe the lack of printed parts? As result, I will give it an average score of 3 out of five house points. Is that too harsh?

What will we get tomorrow? We could use another figure to keep Harry company, but maybe we’re up for another smaller model from Honeydukes. Check back tomorrow to see on the 2023 Advent Calendar page.

Till then, Build the Magic!
