We’ve had a series of models from the Hog’s Head inn, but still not enough glasses for all to get a butter beer. Will today fix this, or is it time for a different model? Let’s open door 16 and see what is lined up for us today…
I pulled out the plastic bag behind the door and double checked that there wasn’t anything more, as the bag did feel very light. My thought was: “Where’s the rest?”
But once again, we’ve got a model with very low part count, being an outdoor lamp post standing in the snow. It is made out of just 6 parts (as we got two spare parts, we had 8 parts in total), which must be the lowest so far this year.

With so few parts, it is a very quick build.

It does look pretty good, but really – six parts! LEGO, you could have thrown in a few more parts to make it more interesting for sure!
16 December model – take 2
So, I wasn’t quite happy with what we got, so I decided to Christmasfy it. I’m sure it can be done better, but in five minutes I found a few spare parts (three in total) to hack the model.

Here you can see how I used them:

What do you thing? Is that an improvement?
Summary
Once again, today’s model was a bit of a let down. As such, I do like the design, but for the price of the advent calendar, I have expected some more substantial models. The Friends calendar a few years back that had a lamp post did also include a mailbox. Here we got those two items as two separate models.
I do like the trans-yellow head, which gives a much warmer light than the trans-clear bricks often used for lamp posts. And the white dome as base is a nice continuation of many of the other outdoor models we’ve got so far. Combined, this lifts it up the score to a 3 out of five house points, though I feel I may have been too generous here.
We’ve now had three days with normal models, so I’m thinking we might be due for another minifigure tomorrow. But which? Or maybe things are not as logical as I’d think. Check back tomorrow on the 2023 Advent Calendar page to see what we got.
Till then, Build the Magic!

Love following your advent calendar blog, always enjoyable. I agree that other than the minifigs, especially Aberforth, the builds have been disappointing, especially todays. I think you have been extremely generous in marking this. A deduction of 3 house points is my score! Was thinking about putting a decorative holly wreath on it to jazz it up, and your blog has inspired me to rummage through my bits and pieces! Cheers. Looking forward to the next days.

The wreath is a great idea. And so simple. Now why didn’t the LEGO calendar team think of that?
Nice job.
