Already 8 days into December and the models from the advent calendar are starting to fill up the Great Hall, which is the theme this year. What will we get today? Another minifigure maybe – or maybe some presents to put under the rather small Christmas tree? Read on to see what we got…
I was wrong with my guesses – again. But I kind of wish I wasn’t.
Looking at the bag of parts behind door number 8, I had to double check the calendar to be sure a mischievous elf hadn’t exchanged my Harry Potter advent calendar with a LEGO Friends calendar. The colours didn’t look like something from Harry Potter at all.

Opening the back and looking at the parts, I remained puzzled. What what that – even looking at the instructions on the flag, it was a mystery.

In the end, I selttled on this being two Christmas crackers / Christmas bon-bons. Building them didn’t take long, with 16 pieces in total (two of the spares).

I haven’t seem better suggestions, and I guess they kind of look like crackers, like the ones below.

But they still look weird and are certainly not minifigure scale, as we can see below:

Maybe it is rather some firework from Fred and George? I’m happy to take any better suggestions!
Summary
So, this was a weird day. Interesting parts for sure and some pretty cool colours – if you want to build a fairy garden that is. If they had been in the colours of some of the Hogwarts houses, I may have liked them more.
So with a weird shape, weird scale and weird colours – I was tempted to give today just half a point, but will round it up as quite a few parts and some of them I may find useful for other (non Harry Potter) stuff. So 1 out of 5 house points from me, which may be my lowest score since I started reviewing calendars in 2019.
With such as score, I’m confident that tomorrow will be better. But what will we get? I think we may be due for another minifigure, but who knows! Check back tomorrow on the 2024 Advent Calendar page to see what we got.
Till then, Build the Magic!

Maybe Hagrid used an engorgement charm on the Christmas crackers? Could be a Blast-ended Skrewt in one of them! Zero stars.

Maybe Hagrid size, but probably even too big for him. Could easily blow an arm off a student when pulled.
