In a week it is all over, so I hope we’ll get something good these last days of the advent calendar. Yesterday’s model may have given away what today will bring, but the advent calendar has had a few surprises in the sequencing of things, so maybe also today? Read on to see what we got…
Behind door 18 was a rather full bag of parts. A quick glance confirmed that today would be (another) Christmas tree – assumingly for yesterday’s tree base with the model of Hogwarts Express circling around it.

In the bag was no less than 29 pieces (three were spares), and some of them are quite large. This makes it by far the biggest and most part intensive model to date this year.

It is built around a base with four identical sides added to create the shape of the Christmas tree. I works rather well and the blend of greens here works much better than for the tree we got earlier on (4 Dec).
Once put on the base from yesterday – and adding Santa’s hat on top, this is a very festive model.

I’m not sure how many would decorate their tree with Santa’s hat, but for this purpose, it works pretty well, and great minifigure accessory to get, as you can use it on any other minifigure you might have (from this calendar – or in general, as Dumbledore would make a great Santa).
Summary
The tree is somewhat similar to Christmas trees we have got in previous advent calendars, but rather that than giving us a worse design. So I won’t really let that detract from the model.
So with the high piece count, very nice design and added Santa hat on top, I will give today the maximum score of five out of five house points.
Finally, a Christmas tree worthy the Great Hall. It looks great along the back wall. But what will we get next? Will there be another round of Hogwarts House specific models? Or will another minifigure be waiting for us? Check back tomorrow on the 2024 Advent Calendar page to see what we got.
Till then, Build the Magic!
