I can’t believe we’re already almost half way through the year. While shocked that time has gone by so quickly, it also means that it is time for the LEGO catalogues for the second half of the year. The first ones have started to appear online and revealed a few interesting things, such as the new advent calendars. Read on to see what’s lined up for the Harry Potter fans…
The new catalogues are coming – an early release of the Taiwan one a few days ago was quickly taken down – but today the Japanese 2HY catalogue has appeared online (and is still up). In addition to the Harry Potter advent calendar (set 76404), it also shows the LEGO CITY, Star Wars and Friends calendars due.
While no expert in Japanese, I presume it on the screenshot below states that it is available from September, which would be consistent with the month of release in previous years.

If you absolutely don’t want any spoilers, you better stop reading here. But if you’re fine with a closer look at the front, please read on as I’ve tried to stretch out the photo above on my phone and zoom in as much as I could.
It reveals two of the include minifigures – much better than last year’s calendar, which had a lot more figures shown on the front spoiling some of the surprises for those who like that (I’m one of those).
The front looks nicely like a photo album with each photo highlighting a small model. Apart from minifigures, it appears many of those builds (might be the overarching theme) will be micro-scale, including the Whomping Willow with the flying Ford Anglia and the Hogwarts Express awaiting at the station.

At the lower right – just to the left of the number 24, I think it says a game is included. It will be interesting to see if I’ve read that right – and how the game compares with last year’s.
What are your first impressions? Is this a must have, a maybe or not at all? I’m sure we’ll soon see better photos on LEGO’s shop-at-home website. That may help guide your views.
Till then, Build the Magic!
