REVIEW: Advent calendar 10 December 2023

Yesterday, we completed the trio, so now Harry, Ron and Hermione are ready for adventure. But where should they go? What will we get today that they can explore or interact with? It is time to open door number 10. Read on to see what we got…

Surprise, surprise…

We didn’t get model for the interior of one of the remaining empty buildings. Instead, we are going to build a Christmas tree. We have had many Christmas trees over the years, but I do like getting models that are related to the festive season.

In terms of part count, this one is in the smaller end, with 14 parts included, four of which being spares.

With only 10 parts used for the tree, it is a rather quick build.

It is definitely not the most impressive Christmas tree I’ve seen in a calendar, but it is nice that we do have a Christmas related model – which we didn’t see much of in the 2022 calendar. For comparison, here is an overview of previous Christmas trees from the 2019-2021 calendars.

Summary

While I’m happy for the inclusion of a Christmas tree, I think the execution is rather lackluster. Combined with a low part count, I can’t award it anything more than an average three out of five house points. This is quite a step down from yesterday’s top score.

With the rather low score today, I really hope tomorrow will be better. What can be better? A larger tree, maybe? Or something else (I think we will remain outdoor)? Time will tell. Check back tomorrow to see what we got.

Till then, Build the Magic!

  1. You’re being too kind on this one. It is a pitiful tree. It doesn’t hold a candle to the classic GOAT pitiful tree from Charlie Brown. I give this tree build 1.5 stars, only because it does look like a snow-covered tree. Zero personality.
