REVIEW: Advent calendar 23 December 2023

We are almost there – as only two more doors to open. I wonder what they might bring? Something wintery and Christmassy I hope – but what? Read on to see what is behind door number 23…

Finally, a more substantial model was my first thought, as the plastic bag behind the door was rather packed. My second thought was – another Christmas tree…

To start with the parts, today we got 24 parts (of which 5 are spares). This number is among the largest in this year’s advent calendar. So a big tick from that perspective.

For the Christmas tree, I first thought it was similar to the one we got earlier (on 10 December), but almost immediately after could see that this was taller.

It was a quite nice build to do while drinking my morning coffee, and the result is quite a bit better than the smaller one we got previously.

I think that extra amount of green makes it more balanced (the other one was a too white I felt) and of course gives it more presence.

Summary

Today’s Christmas tree is a much better version than the previous, and holds up very well against the previous year’s trees (2019, 2020 and 2021 – there was no tree in 2022). For comparison, you can see the those trees below.

2019 tree (left) vs. 2020 tree (middle) vs. 2021 tree (right)

Definitely one of the best days so far. With that extra size, it looks much more complete, and as result I’ve decided to give it a top score of five out of five house points.

I really hope they have saved the best for last, though it will be hard to beat today’s model. But fingers crossed, tomorrow will be another good day. Check back one more time tomorrow on the 2023 Advent Calendar page as we open the final door.

Till then, Build the Magic!
