REVIEW: Advent calendar 3 December 2024

The last two days of the 2024 LEGO Harry Potter advent calendar have had a Gryffindor theme. Will that be the case again today? Read on to see what we got…

Another day with parts rather than a minifigure, with the colours suggesting this would indeed be a Gryffindor themed model.

The instructions at the back of the door show this is a table well covered by food from a great Christmas feast.

For those who want an extra challenge, you can try to build the daily models without opening the bag first. It is indeed possible with a bit of patience.

Having finished the model in the bag, I did open it and checked the part count. Today we got 15 parts (same as yesterday), with two of those being spares. There are a few more larger pieces today than yesterday, and I in particular like the pie and a couple of extra printed cookie pieces (one with the model and one as spare).

The model is quickly built and looks nice overall. I’m not quite sure why they have printed tables on the advent calendar flap as well given we get tables as models too. Maybe they thought it would look more impressive? I think it looks a bit weird with both, though it depends on the viewing angle.

Summary

Overall, I’m pretty happy with today’s model. It has a decent part count, not too small, some interesting parts, and nicely reflects a table ready for a Yule ball (thought without any specific Christmas elements). As result, I will give it four out of five house points in line with how I scored the 1 December model.

What will we get tomorrow? They said that all good things come in threes. Does that mean tomorrow will be something else (could be another good sequence of three)? Harry is still all alone, so maybe another minifigure? Or could it be another Gryffindor model? Time will tell. Check back tomorrow on the 2024 Advent Calendar page to see what we got.

Till then, Build the Magic!

  1. I think this may be the Hufflepuff table. Hufflepuff house is usually represented by yellow bricks, red or maroon for Gryffindor, blue for Ravenclaw, and green for Slytherin. And, the cookies match the Hufflepuff table. Just a thought…
