Yesterday’s model gave us a Gryffindor table for the Great Hall full of delicious food for a Christmas feast. But Harry is still all alone so not a fun party for him. Will he get a companion today to party with? Read on to see what we got…
Today is certainly no minifigure, but another bag of parts.

Those who have had Harry Potter advent calendars for some time know that there has to be a Christmas tree (sometimes even more than one) in the calendar. It is a bit early to get one though, but from the parts alone, it is clearly a Christmas tree (though maybe the first of several).
The bag has 14 parts of which four are spares. So quite a low piece count for the actual model.

As result, the tree is quickly built and not super-impressive in size (so hopefully there will be a larger one later). But at least it has some festive colours, though a somewhat confusing colour scheme overall with the different layers of green.
For comparison, you can see last year’s smaller model (we got two that year) here below, which coincidentally had exactly the same part count (including for spares).

Looking at the tree from the side, the trunk does look too high relative to the tree itself. Maybe it is to make room for more presents?

Summary
I’m happy for the inclusion of a Christmas tree, in fact I certainly expected one, this is not a top tier model. While I appreciate the Christmas feel this early in the calendar (some calendars didn’t include many models related to Christmas at all), it is average at best. The form is okay if you disregard the rather tall base, but I don’t really think the dark green bottom and top normal green look that natural. And the red holder for the star on top looks out of place too.
As result, I will give it a score of 2.5 out of five house points – the lowest this year so far. Is that too harsh?
What will we get tomorrow? We could use another figure to keep Harry company, but we’ll continue with the Christmas theme? Check back tomorrow to see on the 2024 Advent Calendar page.

Till then, Build the Magic!
(we are in the habit of saying this everyday together! : )
