REVIEW: Advent calendar 20 December 2024

My Great Hall is getting rather crowded with both minifigures and models of tables, statues and Christmas decorations. What will today add to the mix? Read on to see what we got…

There was no minifigure today – as expected as we got one yesterday.  Instead a rather full bag of bricks, 21 to be specific (three were spares).

With the bricks, you can build the roaring fireplace, which helped to keep the students and teachers in the Great Hall warm in winter. It is a nice little build, with the photos below showing the progress.

Below to the left is the completed model.

Overall, a nice addition to the Great Hall. Having visited Harry Potter Studios in London, I do recall the dominant fireplace along one is the walls. I guess the fire may appear rather moderate in the model, which on the plus side includes another collectable portrait.

I do however feel there is a missed opportunity to add some Christmas decorations as I’ve done on the photo to the right. It just needed two more bricks.

Summary

Overall, today’s model has a good part count relative to most other days and I really like the inclusion of the portrait, I’ll give it four out of five house points.

Just four more days to go and I wonder what those days will bring? A table for the teachers? More presents to put under the Christmas tree? Be sure to check back tomorrow on the 2024 Advent Calendar page to see what we got.

Till then, Build the Magic!

  1. annoyed because my surprise portraits are of the same man (bald with a long white beard) and i’m struggling to work out who it is

    1. Oh, what a shame to get duplicates. Hopefully you find someone you can swap with. The person in the portrait would be Salazar Slytherin, one of the four founders of Hogwarts and first Head of Slytherin house.
