December: it’s that wonderful time of year…

For six years, I’ve been ready 1 December to reveal the first model in the Advent calendar. Many years, that was a Harry Potter minifigure. You can see those reviews here. To be honest, it was among the things I was looking most forward to for Christmas – sharing those reviews. But sadly, I won’t be doing them this year.

I’m still very much active in the LEGO community, though I’ve mainly focused on other themes lately, with 2025 mostly devoted to Cyberpunk.

Looking at the Advent calendar when revealed mid year, it didn’t really connect with me. Some cute models, and more minifigures, but far from enough to say I really must have that set! And I’ve also hit the space limit of how many posts I can have on the site. To add more content with new photos, I need to upgrade (double the cost) or delete old stuff.

So for those reasons, I didn’t buy it. Writing this post, I do feel really sad about it, but I do have another cool LEGO Christmas related idea, I’ll focus my time on. Hopefully, I’ll finish it before Christmas.

And when it comes to Harry Potter, with 2026 being another Harry Potter anniversary year, I’ll most certainly bring out my big Harry Potter display, at least once and maybe add a few enhancements to it (got plenty of ideas).

My big Harry Potter forecast when displayed first time in 2018.

So I’m very much looking forward to be back displaying Harry Potter again in 2026.

As for this year’s calendar, based on statistics, I’d guess the first model is Harry Potter 🙂

Time will tell (I guess, I’ll soon find out, reading others posts about it).

Till then, Build the Magic!

  1. Sad news… I always look forward to following along with your reviews… but I have to agree in that, so far, this years set has been quite subpar. Of course, I lack your encyclopedic knowledge of existing sets, so maybe some of the pieces or minifigs are exclusive/rarer than I give it credit for, but I guess we’ll never know…

  2. Oh, not just me then.

I looked at the previous calendars as upgrades to existing sets, The Clock Tower Yule Ball themed set with the Tri Wizard items in the calendar, etc.

Very generic this year though (Christmas Jumpers in house colours are nice for those who like house themes).

If you really want to peek at the items this (or any) year, look on the Lego site at the downloadable instructions, all the calendars are there in one place !
