REVIEW: Advent calendar 2 December 2022

Yesterday’s model was a micro-scale version of Ollivanders wand shop Will today be another micro-scale model – or maybe our first minifigure? And how many house points will today’s model get? Read on to see…

2 December model

Opening yesterday’s model I saw the door had a symbol on it. Looking at the board, I realise there is a symbol for each movie – with yesterday’s symbol representing the first movie. Today’s model had a similar symbol, so I guessed it would be another model from the first movie.

Behind the door, we find a bag with 18 pieces (about half of yesterday’s count), with one of those being a spare. So still no minifigure – maybe we’ll get that tomorrow.

Here’s a quick rundown on how to build it – though it is a lot less complex than yesterday.

As you can see, this is a model of the Quidditch goal hoops. I guess the game was first introduced in the first movie, but it appeared in many other movies too. But a nice, easy to recognise model, though somewhat simpler than what we got yesterday.

We have seen several LEGO sets covering Quidditch, most recently the one below. You can find my review of that here.

Summary

This is an okay little model – easily recognisable and with a few of the house colours. But it is half the bricks compared with yesterday, though the hoops can be quite useful for other MOCs. That last point will pull the model up to a score of 3 out of 5 house points today.

So we now have two micro-scale builds from the first movie. What will we get on 3 December – our first minifigure? Check back tomorrow to see on the 2022 Advent Calendar page.

Till then, Build the Magic!
