REVIEW: Advent calendar 6 December 2024

Yesterday, we started on a “Ravenclaw” theme. Will we therefore see a Ravenclaw minifigure today? Another minifigure is long overdue in this year’s advent calendar. Or maybe this year’s calendar continues to surprise. Read on to see what we got…

Finally another minifigure, but not the expected one from Ravenclaw. Instead we got a sneaky Slytherin – and again with a few bricks (four to be exact) as with the 1 December model.

Say hello to Draco Malfoy. The design is (not surprisingly) very similar to the Harry Potter minifigure from earlier, but with Slytherin’s colours and snake house mascot added on the scarf.

Maybe as a mistake, I did get two sets of wands with the model. Wonder if I was the only one? Much better than missing pieces I guess.

As with the 1 December model, the four extra bricks are used to build a stand.

With no-one guarding the Ravenclaw table, Draco can help himself to a treat.

Summary

As with the earlier Harry Potter minifigure, it is a good design. I do prefer getting something special (like a figure a particular time in the movie as in last year’s calendar), but I do see value in generic torso prints like this too, as great for creating other characters too.

With the addition of the stand (printed pieces are always nice), this is a good combination and I will therefore give today’s model four out of five house points.

Finally, Harry got some company, but probably not the person he’d have preferred. What will we get tomorrow? With the Slytherin stand in today’s model, I think I can predict this one. But then again, I’ve failed in my predictions most other days, so maybe another surprise. Check back tomorrow on the 2024 Advent Calendar page to see what we got.

Till then, Build the Magic!

    1. Very good point! In previous years, the models generally followed a logical order. So I deducted the table would be Gryffindor. But yes, it’s a lot of food (Ron would be happy though), and that only leaves black colour for a Hufflepuff table, so I think you are right 🙂
