The recent days have been pretty good, with some larger models and interesting minifigures. Can the advent calendar keep up with that today? I really hope so as I sit down on this lazy Saturday morning, just about to open the calendar and wondering what we will get today. Are you curious too? Read on to see what we got…
Another day with a rather full bag of parts – 27 to be specific, where four turns out to be spares.

Yesterday, I mentioned that it was a missed opportunity not to add some Christmas decorations to the fireplace model (partly due to some of the previous LEGO Harry Potter advent calendars having very few models related to Christmas. Maybe that comment yesterday wasn’t needed, because today we got a Christmas garland, hanging from two poles.

Above you can see the elements it is made from while the full model is shown below.

Overall, it looks pretty good. For some reason, I’m not a huge fan of it, though I cant put my finger on why. Maybe it is the shape (how it hangs, or how low it hangs)?
Addendum: Based on reader feedback, I subsequently after posting this blog post learned more about this garland. I will discuss that in tomorrow’s post.
Summary
Again, a model with quite a few parts (second-most this year), though mainly smaller, so yesterday’s model appears larger. While I’m not a super fan of the design, I really do like there have been quite a few Christmas related builds in this year’s calendar, so combined with the good part count, I’ll award it 3.5 out of five house points.
After today, only 3 more doors remain. We got students at tables, food, choir song and Christmas decorations. What else is needed before the feast can begin? Check back tomorrow on the 2024 Advent Calendar page to see what we got.
Till then, Build the Magic!

I was so tempted to shout “foreshadowing” on yesterdays fireplace needing more decoration.
I know you don’t look ahead, but the garlands can be separated and attached to the blank studs on the firelace where you added the leaves, the connector goes on to of the “chimney”.

Thanks. Just tried it – it works much better than the two models separately. Will mention this in my post tomorrow

i like Allen’s suggestion. I, too, like the piece, but something is off about it. One thing I keep noticing is the larger Xmas tree reminds me of the starter lights in drag racing, which they also call a Christmas Tree!
