REVIEW: Advent Calendar 24 December 2020

“It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas” I sang after having built yesterday’s model. Will we finish on a high today? Here what we got…

Behind door number 24 is: … (drumroll)

…the Tri-wizard tournament trophy.

I’m not quite sure what to say. The model looks pretty good, though larger in scale of compared to the one in the movie. But it has not really anything to do with Christmas. And I had expected that from today.

The model is quickly built, as it is made out is just 12 pieces (and we got three spares as well for a total of 15).

The snakeheads used for handles are nice in particular. But if you use those, you need to build it in a rather large scale. Here it is shown next to a minifigure for scale.

Below is what it looked like in the movie. As seen it’s quite a lot smaller compared to the characters.

For the last time this year, I have to award Housepoints. The model on any other day would have been sitting at 3.5 to 4 Housepoints. But I think they could have selected a better model to finish with, something bigger that also related to Christmas. So I’ll pull the score down a bit and only award three out of five Housepoints.

So, after 24 posts, this is it for the 2020 calendar. Did you like it? Was it better than the 2019 calendar? What was your favourite model or minifigure? Remember you can revisit all the daily posts on the advent calendar review page.

I’m hoping for a new calendar I can review in December 2021.

Till then, Build the Magic!

  1. Thank you for helping us realize what a couple of calendar objects were. I like your descriptions from each day. I like how you award Housepoints. See you next year. ~ MRK, age 9
