REVIEW: Advent calendar 15 December 2022

The last two models haven’t quite excited me. The models have been fine, but uninspiring in a way. I wonder what we’ll get as our last model from the Order of the Phoenix? Will it end this movie with a blast? Read on to see what we got…

15 December model

Opening today’s door, I could see that as expected we got a minifigure to close off the fifth movie series.

As the hair piece immediately reveals, this is the rather clumsy auror Nymphadora Tonks.

It is a really nice figure, with detailed printing of her torso in particular. And as alternative face print, it has one of the funny faces her metamorphmagus (shapeshifting) abilities allowed her to make to lift the spirits of her friends.

For many years we didn’t have any minifigures of her. Not till the release of the Attack on the Burrow set in 2020 did we get a set with her in it. But this year, we also got her in the 12 Grimmauld Place set. Both previous releases have been in sets with a high price point, so good to see her in this much more affordable calendar.

Below, you can see a comparison of today’s figure (right) to the other two, with the 2020 Burrow version being the left one and the 12 Grimmauld Place version in the middle.

Summary

This is a very nice model to get of Tonks. The printing is great (even though the legs aren’t) and as noted it is a figure otherwise only available in quite expensive sets. So I will award it my first 5 out of 5 house points.

This completes the Order of the Phoenix sets. Great finish, but the other models didn’t quite excite me. Wonder what is coming when we continue with the Half-blood prince. Be sure to check back on the 2022 Advent Calendar page tomorrow to see what we got…

Till then, Build the Magic!
