REVIEW: Advent calendar 21 December 2023

We’re on the home stretch, with only a few more doors to open. The most recent days, we’ve been exploring the Three Broomsticks. Will we today head out into the cold again? Read on to see what we got…

We got another minifigure today. This is not surprising, as we’ve had one every four days so far. With just three days remaining, I assume this will be the last one this year.

The figure represents Draco Malfoy in the attire he was wearing during the famous snow-ball fight by the Shrieking Shack. This is a perfect supplement to Harry, Ron and Hermione, who we have also got in this advent calendar as they were dressed in that scene.

He comes with a set of wands as accessories and nice double sided printing on both head and torso.

It is a very good representation of him – when comparing with the photo from that scene below.

Draco: Boys, I think it’s time to teach Weaselbee how to respect his superiors.

Hermione: Ah! Hope you don’t mean yourself!

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

You can see the full clip from the snow-ball fight here:

You will notice that there are slight differences – the fur cap is slightly different in design, and for whatever reason, they gave him dark tan trousers rather than black as in the movie. But an excellent figure otherwise.

One of the spare bricks from when we got the frozen fountain can be used as a snowball. Now we just need an invisibility cloak for Harry.

Summary

This is one of my favourite days so far. Great addition to the mix of minifigures. I’m looking forward to set up the snow-ball scene now either in front of my own design on the Shrieking Shack or the official version that came out last year.

While great, due to the “wrong” colour of the trousers and slight difference in hat design from the movie, I’ll score it just under the maximum, giving it 4.5 out of five house points.

I assume this will be the last minifigure in this calendar. Will tomorrow’s model then be an outside model? Draco is surely dressed up for it. Check back tomorrow on the 2023 Advent Calendar page to see what we got.

Till then, Build the Magic!
