I’ve previously said I prefer opening the advent calendar in the weekends, so I have more time to enjoy the models. Today has however been hectic with no less than three Christmas events I had to attend. So it was just as rushed as any normal day – but the model we got was luckily one of my favorite ones so far.
14 December model review
We got another minifigure today – the fourth so far. I really like minifigures – using them to create scenes from the Harry Potter books, so I’m pleased every time we get a new figure.
The figure represents Hermione – and as using the kids legs piece, it would suggest she’s in her first or second year at Hogwarts. She’s wearing black Hogwarts robes with the Gryffindor colours.
She comes with both a happy and angry expression.
While most parts are available in other sets, the torso print is brand new and has a similar design to the four we got with the Harry Potter Collectable Minifigures (CMF) Series 1 (Harry, Ron, Hermione and Dean Thomas). All the previous ones had printing that continued onto the printed legs meaning you had to use the “teenage” legs that matched to create a decent looking figure. On this one the full printing is on the torso alone, and it therefore can be used with any sized black legs piece.
Together with the other four ones, now you can have five different persons all dressed differently, as on this “family photo” I’ve made of the five Weasley siblings that all went to Hogwarts at the same time.
So, I’m glad they created yet another version of the Gryffindor robes, but it would be really awesome if they started doing some from the other Hogwarts houses too, maybe in the rumoured CMF series 2.
Let’s get back to the calendar. Hermione joins the others at the Gryffindor table. She does look upset though. She has probably found out that the food was cooked by enslaved house elves.
But now to the serious part. I really like getting a new figure, but as today’s model has no Christmas tie-in unlike the Harry and Ron minifigures, I’ll restrict myself to “just” giving it 4.5 out of five House points. But a very good day indeed!
Another 10 models to come. Will we get any more micro-models as the excellent Hogwarts Express? Or will we continue the Great Hall theme for the rest of the calendar? I’m looking forward to open the lid on number 15 tomorrow to see!
Till then, Build the Magic!
