LEGO Harry Potter CMF series 2 spotted in the wild

LEGO Harry Potter 71028 Collectible Minifigures Series 2

While not officially revealed by LEGO yet (but with an expected release date of 1 September it can’t be far away), Promobricks has found LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures (CMF) Series 2 for sale at a couple of Carrefour supermarkets. So we now know all 16 figures we are to get and it looks like a very strong series. Here is what we get and a bit of backstory to some of the figures…

With the minifigures available in a couple of supermarkets, probably by accident, we now know all 16 figures in the series, confirming the earlier rumours. They are expected to be officially available 1 September, so still a few weeks of waiting (unless you are lucky and find them early).

Here is a list of the figures along with the accessories:

  • Harry Potter (with Advanced Portion Making book)
  • Albus Dumbledore (with Fawkes)
  • Hermione Granger (with glass of butterbeer)
  • Ron Weasley (with glass of butterbeer)
  • Luna Lovegood (with her lion head hat)
  • Griphook (with Sword of Gryffindor and key)
  • Lily Potter (with baby Harry)
  • James Potter (with photo of Lily and James)
  • Ginny Weasley (with ice cream)
  • Fred Weasley (with suitcase full of Weasley Wizard Wheezes products)
  • George Weasley (with Marauders map)
  • Bellatrix Lestrange, Azkaban dress (with handcuffs and prisoner number)
  • Kingsley Shacklebolt (with broom)
  • Moaning Myrtle (with Tom Riddle’s diary)
  • Professor Sprout (with mandrake in pot)
  • Neville Longbottom (with the Monster Book of Monsters)

Here is a copy of the insert in the polybags with all figures listed:

I’m sure we will soon see high resolution photos of the figures from LEGO and I’ll post them as they become available.

Initial reflections

This series closes a lot of gaps in the availability of figures, with remakes of rare (and old) minifigures of Professor Sprout, Griphook, Fred and George Weasley and the first appearances in minifigure form for Lily and James Potter, Kingsley Shacklebolt and Moaning Myrtle.

A lot of the figures reflect their appearances in the later books/movies. Kingsley and Bellatrix both appear in the Harry Potter and Order of the Phoenix and onward.

Ginny is dressed as the Slughorn Party held at Christmas from the Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince, and will thus be a great supplement to the other Slughorn party figures included in the new Hogwarts Astronomy Tower set.

And we get Luna Lovegood, with the lion head hat she wore it to show her support the Gryffindor Quidditch team. It was magically enhanced, so when she tapped the hat with her wand, it let out an extremely load roar. While the hat was first mention in the Order of the Phoenix book, we didn’t get to see it till the Half-blood Prince in the movies.

Staying with that movie, the minifigures of Harry, Hermione and Ron are all in dressed as during their visit to the Three Broomsticks in the Half-blood Prince, and we even get butterbeer glasses for Hermione and Ron.

Fred and George Weasley, not surprisingly, ran a little gambling booth from a suitcase during the three tasks of the Triwizard Tournament in the Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. The minifigures are both dressed as they were there taking bets.

Fred Weasley: “Bets! Place your bets”
George Weasley: “Bets taken! Bets taken here!”
Fred Weasley: “Step up, folks! Who fancies a flutter in today’s bloodbath?”
George Weasley: “Smart money’s on Krum to survive! Any bets!”

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

Some of the accessories deserves a mention too. In particular baby Harry, Dumbledore’s phoenix, Fawkes, and the Sword of Godric Gryffindor we get with Griphook. And the books all look realistic as well – in particular I love the cover of Advanced Potion Making and the realistic new mould of the Book of Monsters.

Overall, I’m really exited over the line-up and can’t wait to get my hands on a set for real.

Till then, Build the Magic!

  1. Awesome! I was (and still am) looking forward to collecting al these beauties 🙂
Especially thrilled about the new minifigs that we’ve never seen in any sets.
Still keeping my fingers crossed that they will add Rita Skeeter, Gilderoy Lockhart and Ollivander to the new Diagon Alley D2C set 🙂
