It's no secret that I love Diagon Alley. Luckily there have been several LEGO sets released covering it over the years. I will here review one of the older ones, Knockturn Alley (Set 4720). Surely, it is dated with today's eyes, and not without deficiencies in design either. But it has a few positives aspects too that you sometimes would hope more modern sets had as well.
While not officially revealed by LEGO yet (but with an expected release date of 1 September it can't be far away), Promobricks has found LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures (CMF) Series 2 for sale at a couple of Carrefour supermarkets. With the calendar saying August 1, the new LEGO Harry Potter sets are now finally available in North America. The sets are worth the wait though - the ones I've looked at so far have been amazing. It was a pleasant surprise when LEGO recently added a Harry Potter themed minifigure pack to their range. Minifigure packs typically include four minifigures - and with four houses at Hogwarts, LEGO opted to give us a student from each of them. While we have seen plenty of Gryffindor students in previous sets, and occasional Slytherins, students from Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff have been mostly ignored. In 2018 we got the Aragog’s Lair scene from the Forbidden Forest followed in 2019 by Expecto Patronum, which was also set in the forest. Now the calendar says 2020 and we are fortunately enough to get yet another Forbidden Forest set. This one brings us for the first time in LEGO both centaurs and Hagrid's half-brother Grawp, as well as a return of Professor Umbridge, who otherwise has been hard to get as minifigure. So many positives - but does the set as a whole stack up well?
