REVIEW: Advent calendar 21 December 2022

Today could take us to record number of seven minifigures in an advent calendar. Would we get one? Read on to see what was behind door 21…

This year’s calendar is a photo album with three models from each of the eight movies. For each movie we have so far got two normal models followed by a minifigure.

Finishing off the seventh movie today could give us minifigure number seven. Harry Potter advent calendars normally only have six (though one also came with the statue of the Hogwarts architect that could count as a seventh figure).

21 December model

Opening the door today quickly made me disappointed. There was no minifigure.

Instead today’s “character” was Hedwig, which played a prominent role in saving Harry Potter during the Battle of the Seven Potters.

Luckily, this isn’t all that we get, as there are more bricks in the bag. These are used to build a spinner for the included game. It’s built from seven pieces with an eighth included as a spare.

I’ll discuss the game in a later post (there is a reference to the rules on the box). From a quick glance, I think many will have more fun just from spinning the spinner by itself than playing the game…

Summary

So no seventh minifigure today. We still have a chance on 24 December when we get the last model from the eighth movie. Getting Hedwig instead is a disappointment I must admit, The spinner doesn’t really lift my mood much, so I will only award 2.5 out of 5 house points today.

Tomorrow we will start on the last movie. I wonder what models we might get for that one. Maybe a micro Hogwarts? Be sure to check back on the 2022 Advent Calendar page tomorrow to see what we got…
